Amazon Kindle- Travel Gadget… in a minute

A bit more info:

The Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device (6″) with free wireless is $189. You can buy a wi-fi only Kindle (6″) for $139, but I believe it is well worth the extra $50 for the free wireless 3G.

You can have up to 6 Kindle devices on one account.  I love this as Doug and I often read the same books- and often like to read at the same time!

The Kindle does have a web browser, but it currently supports a single page.  You can easily highlight passages and add them to you Twitter or Facebook stream.

Because there is no backlit screen my eyes don't get tired when reading from the Kindle, as they do when reading from my computer or a tablet device.

I love that I can add my own notes to passages.  As I can't bring myself to write on books, this is a wonderful feature!

There are hundreds of free titles- and even games- available on Amazon.  Hint: search you favorite author, then click “low to high” in “sort by”.  You'll find relevant titles by new authors you may not have heard of- and often a surprise promotion from your favorites!  I scored Diana Gaboldon's Outlander a couple weeks ago!

  1. Very nice, Jody. E-readers are something I’m definitely interested in, but just haven’t invested in yet. I like the Kindle, but the one I really like is the Entourage eDGe. It’s got the e-reader, but also a second screen for simultaneous web browsing. Perfect for those multi-taskers who like to read and surf, while laying by the surf!

Nice effort with the video, too. Looking forward to seeing more in the coming weeks!
