Today, January 5, is Bird Day – which means it’s the perfect day to share an article I recently published about backyard bird watching.

Filled with handy tips I learned at the South Dakota Birding Festival last spring, as well as a few easy bird feeders you can make right now with items you have on hand, you’ll be enjoying bird watching in your backyard in no time!

Bird watching is such a fun activity with the kids – and the bonus for winter weather is that you can do it from the warmth of your home! National Bird Day is January 5 and with just a few tips you can have your back yard ready to spot colorful birds – no matter the season!

There are really only two things that birds must have – food and water.
