Instagram Travel Tip for #IGTravelThursday

Last Updated on February 6, 2014 by Jody Halsted

I had a great idea for #IGTT this week. it was going to tie in to the post I wrote over at my other site about Ireland’s largest tree house. The title – Biggest at Birr. Because not only can you find Ireland’s biggest tree house at Birr Castle, but you can also find what was once the largest telescope in the world on the grounds. It’s truly an amazing place.

So I had this entire post in my head. I could even see the images I was going to use.

But not one of those images I was SURE I took was in Instagram. I could see them perfectly in my mind…  and yet they appear no where in real life.

I’m pretty sure I know what happened. I took the photos in Instagram instead of my phone camera. And then I had no reception. And they were lost.

But let me tell you – they were great photos!

Instagram travel tip: Take pictures with phone camera and add to Instagram!

But it’s been quite a while since I played #IGTT so I opened my app, gave it three good swipes, closed my eyes, and chose a photo.

Cead Mile Failte at The Old Bank, Bruff, Limerick, Ireland

This photo was taken at what has quickly my favorite B&B in all of Ireland – The Old Bank in Bruff, County Limerick. The warm welcome, complete with tea and cake beside a peat fire was pure céad míle fáilte (one hundred thousand welcomes).

Since our first visit to The Old Bank, we have returned twice more- in a one year period- and always look forward to a visit with Miriam and her family. They have quickly become friends which proves the Irish saying,

There are no strangers, only friends we have yet to meet.

Sláinte!

  1. What a lovely post, funnily enough I was just talking today about going to Ireland with a friend and then I see your post. This B&B looks so cozy in the picture!

  2. That dog is so cute!!! And yes – I ALWAYS take photos with the camera, never directly with Instagram so I can keep all of the photos and then pick the best one to post! Great tip & reminder.

  3. ah! This has happened to me too! Though I always take them on my phone camera.. somehow something eats up a few of my pictures! The picture monster!
