Choosing Omni Hotels for Families- and win a weekend stay

Last Updated on December 4, 2016 by

I have always thought of Omni Hotels as a luxury brand; not necessarily a hotel that caters to families.  My thoughts began to change after I met Caryn Kboudi, Omni's VP of Corporate Communications, who spoke with me at length about Omni's focus on kid friendliness, including the Sensational Kids packs given to children at check in and the Kids Sensory Suites.

Last week Caryn gave me a video tour of the Kids Sensory Suite at the Omni Mandalay near Dallas, Texas.  (Eight Omni properties have Kids Sensory Suites; 5 in Texas, one in San Francisco, one in Boston and one in Mt. Washington, NH.)

One of my main problems with hotel rooms is lack of space.  When we can we get connecting rooms to give our girls more room to move, but it can be difficult to find hotels with that amenity.  The KidsSuites at Omni are just that- two separate rooms connected by a door.  But unlike a typical hotel room the sensory suites are decorated with kid friendly twin beds, bean bags, an art table, board games, kid-sized bath robes and a Kids Sensation Bar filled with toys, snacks and trinkets.

For Kids at Any Omni Hotel

Even if you can't get to one of the Omni locations with a KidSuite there are a few surprises waiting at any location you visit.  First is the fun-filled Sensational Kids pack.  The sturdy little backpack has great items for your little travelers- including a list of fun local places to visit.  Ours had a canteen, flashlight, disk shooter and hand drum.  Also ask at the front desk about the “Suitcase of Fun” filled with books and games.

Sometimes staying in a hotel can be a bit unnerving, so the first night of a child's stay Omni hotels will send up a bedtime snack of milk and cookies.  (Be sure to mention you are bringing children when you make your reservation.)  Another fun perk is the refillable kids cup.  Buy a child's drink in the restaurant and refill the cup for free during your stay.

Luxury for Mom & Dad at Omni Hotels

Omni is a luxury hotel brand for many reasons, but it's mainly the small touches that I appreciate.  Plush robes and a roomy bathroom rate high on my list, as does a large work desk and an area to sit and relax- that's not on the bed.

Free in-room wifi is also a necessity for my wired family.  And while most luxury hotels overlook that perk, Omni hasn't.  Just join their free Select Guest Loyalty Program to receive free wifi, complimentary morning beverage delivery, complimentary bottled water when you arrive, complimentary evening turndown service and more great benefits.
