If you have visited the Family Rambling website in the past week you’ve likely noticed a change.
The website got a new design. A bit lighter, a bit cleaner, and, hopefully, a bit easier to navigate. I am still working to narrow down the navigation to be even more streamlined, so I hope you’ll stop and take a look through the next week as the updates continue.
Along with the new look, Family Rambling also got a new ‘tag line’ – Life… Upgraded.
But what does that even mean?
That sounds expensive.
How do you do that?
I’ve heard the questions, so I wanted to explain a bit about site changes and my thoughts about Life…. Upgraded.
I have, much to my chagrin, gotten older.
When I began blogging in 2004 (see… old) I was a new mom trying to figure out how to raise and travel with a new baby. Online resources were scarce then, so I formed my own, which began its online existence as Have Kid, Will Travel. In 2010 the site was renamed Family Rambling, to allow it to grow as my children aged.
I, honestly, did not think about myself aging.
But now I find myself at an interesting spot. I’m still mom, but no longer mommy. My girls are mostly self reliant and don’t need me for every. little. thing.
And a bit unnerving.
I’ve entered a new season in life.
My life has been upgraded.
The last time I lived Life… Upgraded was when I moved out of my mom’s house. Young. Single. Carefree. Life was about savoring the weekend after a week of working a job you didn’t necessarily love. It was about adventure, experience, and exploration.
And figuring out what I wanted my life to be.
I find myself in a similar place now.
Though no longer young (I think I mentioned that already), single, or carefree, I find myself in a place where my life no longer revolves around my children. A place that allows me to take time for myself, explore interests I may have let lapse, and redefine myself as ‘more than mom’.
Discover Life… Upgraded
Travel is my passion so you’ll still find fun destination information here at Family Rambling.
But life is opening new paths for me, as well, and that will be reflected in the articles and information I share – as well as the way I share it.
It’s time to get real.
I hope you’ll join me in living life… upgraded!
