Iowa State Fair Tips – #igtravelthursday
Last Updated on October 1, 2014 by Jody Halsted
It's State Fair time in Iowa (really one of the best state fairs in the country- it's even listed in 1,000 Places to See Before You Die). During our recent (yes, annual) visit, I made sure to send out images of my top tips for visiting the Iowa State Fair. If you have the Iowa State Fair (or any state fair, really) in your plans, these will come in handy!

This calf was less than 12 hours old when we visited. So sweet!

And if you are planning to visit the Iowa State Fair for the first time with the kids, be sure to check out specific tips for taking children to the Iowa State Fair.

I love state fairs, especially the carnival food 🙂
KatjaPresnal Iowa is especially nice because of the agricultural industry. People return just for favorites like Pork Chop on a Stick (the bone is the stick), Hot Beef Sundae and Pork Tenderloins as large as a plate. 🙂
I’ve never been to a fayre like that but it looks like a lot of fun. Now where in England could we get those delicious treats!?
houseofanais The Iowa State Fair is one of the best. If you make it to the states in August, it’s a must… in my opinion. 🙂
I bet that brat on a pretzel bun is delicious. I’ve become a fan of those. I had a crabcake on one at the beach this year, and it was delicious. Great photos. Our fair is in October. Your food looks better, in my opinion. Our stuff is all fried.
Unfortunately, the logo isn’t working to take people to the linky. Just wanted you to know. Sorry if there is a glitch. It takes people back to this post. We appreciate you linking up with us.
Hinessightblog Oh, there is a lot of fried stuff at our fair, too. 🙂
The linky seems to be working fine; I was having issues with the cut & paste version, so I hard coded. You should find that it works for you now.
I love the image of the little calf, could have something to do with being a mom of a newborn though… 🙂
I wish we had something like this over here in Norway, I remember visiting one in Georgia when I lived there many years ago.
Thanks for joining in the Linky and hope to see you again next week!
