Most famous as the home of Hollywood, Los Angeles, California has become an increasingly attractive option for family holidays with the kids. From beautiful beaches and stunning mountain ranges to well-known monuments and world-renowned attractions, there are numerous sights and activities to enthral and inspire children of all ages.
So if you've found cheap flights to Los Angeles this year, consider including some of these fun and educational landmarks on your Californian family holidays…
Natural History Museum

With 35 million specimens on display, some of which date back 4.5 billion years, LA's Natural History Museum is a great place to spend a whole day. With displays including the natural and cultural world, you can entertain every age group in one go.
Further your museum tour with fellow institutions such as the William S. Hart Museum, just an hour's drive from central LA, and the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits, featuring the only consistently active urban Ice Age excavation site in the world, which are also worthy of a visit.
Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Home to more than 1,100 mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles, the Los Angeles Zoo is a chance to get up close and personal with some of the most extraordinary animals on the planet.
Some of the exhibition highlights include the LAIR (Living Amphibians, Invertebrates, and Reptiles), Elephants of Asia, Campo Gorilla Reserve, Sea Life Cliffs and Winnick Family Children's Zoo.
If you fancy a spot of quiet contemplation while the kids are running from animal to animal, go and hang out among the 800 different species of trees, plants and flowers, including the cycad garden, full of ancient plants from the age of the dinosaurs.
Dodger Stadium

Both young and old can enjoy a game of baseball at Elysian Park, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Not only will you be blessed by California's favourable weather, the atmosphere inside the 56-000 seat stadium is electrifying.
To experience more than just a game, there are also behind-the-scenes stadium tours available where you can visit restricted and non-public areas such as the dugout and VIP lounges. Kids can also be given the opportunity to run the bases.
Aquarium of the Pacific

Just 30 minutes drive from Los Angeles is Long Beach, one of the biggest maritime centres in the US. Here you will find the Aquarium of the Pacific, which features 19 major habitats and 32 focus displays.
Along with 11,000 animal exhibits, this is a fantastic facility for the family, as Harbour Tours, a 4D film experience, festivals, educational programs, birthday parties and even sleepovers are also on offer.
Pacific Park

Situated on the historic Santa Monica Pier, Pacific Park greets families with several amusements and carnival games.
The standout attraction is the world's only solar-powered Ferris wheel, which provides superb coastline views from 130 feet above the ocean.
Proving that a Los Angels family vacation ins't all about swimming pools and movie stars.
